Sitting in his living room, watching the wind blow around his curtains, Charon was in his usual grumpy mood. He had managed to somehow avoid getting sick from the constant changes in temperature and weather that had been affecting him the past few days, but he still ended up having to call out of work. And send his dog to stay with someone else. It was frustrating, but he didn't want Hnf to suffer just because someone was fucking with the dogs' master.

Glancing at his computer, he studied the forum to see if anyone from his family had anything to say about what was going on. He hadn't heard from any of them, and this worried him. He knew that his siblings and mother were strong enough to handle anything, but that didn't mean pesky human emotions didn't sometimes plague him. Picking up the phone, he called his mother to check up on her, inwardly hoping she wouldn't think him weird for wondering if she was alright.

The rain had been pouring all day in her apartment, it had gotten to the point she had had to set up a make shift tent in the living room. She would have camped out in her office but the hail hadn't made that possible. She had put in for time off, ignoring the odd stares she got as she walked out of the building. Every dry, warm blanket had been hauled out of the closets as soon as she got home from Wes's place, she was shivering and the heater didn't seem to be effective against the freezing cold. She was rather proud of her efforts but the goddess was hoping that this strange weather wouldn't last much longer.

She had just finished when the phone rang. There were few who knew her home number and knowing it could be one of her children who needed her, she braved the rain to answer it, ignoring the cold drops pelting her as she picked up. "Hello?"

"Mom, hi," Charon started, one hand cupped over his cell phone to block out the sound of the wind. "I hadn't heard from you, or Hemera, Hypnos, and Thanatos. You okay?" There was really no polite way to ask other than just coming out with it, and for someone who conserved words as much as he did keeping it short and simple seemed best. Admittedly, even he could hear the note of concern in his own voice, but he wasn't going to berate himself over actually caring about those members of his family who were around. Especially not when it seemed some outside force was more than capable of playing havoc with their lives at the drop of a hat.

He had no idea what the conditions at her place were like, whether he had called her at a bad time or not. All he really cared about at the moment was that she answered. If she hadn't, then he would have braved the chill to go and physically check on her, because that's what kids are supposed to do for their parents.

A smile came over the night goddess's face when she heard the voice of one of her beloved sons. "Charon. I'm alright, I promise. It's just been raining here. What about you? Are you alright?" she didn't miss the concern in his voice, touched at it. She thought for a moment, trying not to shiver in the cold rain.

"Would you like me to come over?" she asked, not waiting for him to answer how the weather was at his house. It had to be better than ice cold rain and that way she didn't have him out walking in the cold.

If anyone had been there to see the ferryman's sudden relieved grin at his mothers' words they probably would have died of shock. "I'm alright, just dealing with wind in my living room. Haven't checked the other rooms," he responded, sitting bolt upright when she mentioned coming over. His house was in no condition for her to see it, but he did want to see her.

"You can come over if you want, but it's cold out. Do you need me to come pick you up?" He wasn't sure if she had a car, and he didn't want her to get sick from the cold.

"You stay where you are, stay warm," she insisted. She would have protected any of her children from everything if she could, she could bundle up and make it on her own. "Thank you you though, I'll be fine," she assured him gently. Even as she spoke she was grabbing her thicker coats, getting read to leave as soon as she got off the phone.

"I'll be over shortly, alright?"

"Fine," he answered, aware that he probably sounded petulant. He just hated the idea of his mother having to deal with the bitter chill, even though he knew Nyx couldn't be brought down by something as mundane as bad weather. He glanced around the room getting up to try and clean as best he could.

"Be careful."

"I will, I will see you shortly," Nyx smiled even at Charon's petulant words, she knew he worried but she would rather be safe and warm no matter what.

"I'm on my way now."
