Why is it people hear a Southern accent and seem to instantly assume the speaker is dumb or something? I know I talk a little slower then all y'all, but it's a regional thing. It's only the second week of school and already some of my classmates think they're just the funniest things ever all copying my accent trying to get a rise out of me. It's

Originally Austin, Texas, but it's Dallas that I call home.

I've heard good things about Texans, I hope they're true.

Just that y'all got manners and still know what chivalry is. And the whole thing about the two things that come out of Texas, but that's just wrong.

All I know is the southern hospitality never runs short when you're from there.

I'd like that, Louisiana. Mine's less syrupy, more drawly. So I've been told, anyway.
