[The last two months proved to him that he hadn't seen anything. That there was no logical order to things, that he wasn't impervious to unexpected outcomes, and that he was possibly more impulsive and less stable than he'd initially evaluated himself to be. He didn't know what was going on with Nephthys, for one. He didn't know exactly what he thought he was trying with her, why he'd done anything to her, why he lied then took it all back with one swift word. It made as little sense to him as anything else. But he had a bruise to show for waking up next to her, and he was willing to delineate the blame for his confusion on that event alone.
It seemed as though the strangeness, the hype, of living in New York had settled down - for the moment, anyway. And at last he was given the time and luxury to contemplate his work, to run Ra's errands. Apart from those, he could watch Osiris again. Watch and wait. And dare to think that if there was a way to bring that little bastard boy, Horus, out from hiding, it was to torture his father and that bitch he calls his mother.]
