[Money hadn't been a problem for Calliope for most of her life. After all, wasn't it her who owned a house who was much too big for her alone? And as such, she'd always loved spoiling those close to her, even when she was a woman who didn't need much. She was far from a material person.
Her gift for Erato's birthday was simple: an envelope sent to her house containing a check for $400. Written inside of the accompanying card, Cal had written it was to help her with her school books, wished her a happy birthday (now belated, but who was keeping track?) and another congrats on her getting into the schools she wanted to.
Next was Euterpe, who she'd offered to chill like a villain with. Her gift wasn't necessarily heavy, but it required definite transportation by car. Upon knocking on the apartment door and stepping out of the way to hide behind the wall, Euterpe would open it to find the following: a large box containing
this, sans fireflies, and next to it in a little cloth bag, a capo, five picks, a set of 5 new strings, and a rolled up
strap.
She hadn't been given a card -- she'd been given a kiss, a squeeze, and a happy birthday in person. Euterpe had said she didn't want presents, but given the time she'd been through over she last few weeks, Calliope felt she deserved something more. Plus another hug. Or four.]
