[Funny how things worked out. His concerns for where she would end up were over with. He was, delivering her to where she would be most safe, most able to recover and even grow out of her shell. Or so he hoped. He took her in his car (a rental as he hasn't the time to shop properly for a new vehicle) and it is a quiet trip.
He doesn't touch her unnecessary, spoke to her in his most gentle voice. She was something like a small bird and, therefore, his endearments revolved around that in both Russian and English. In strictly English, he explained to her the situation, how he trusted this man who will guard her now. That this man, this Alexander Thomson, would never hurt her. There was no question about it.
He also mentioned the well-protected and amusing sister, the two rather lovable dogs. He mentioned one was poisoned recently but was in recovery. All this is told to her so she can be as prepared as possible. And when they have arrived, he came around to open her door, murmuring encouragement at her ("little dove, come now, take my arm if you like or tuck yourself behind me") before leading her to Aeneas' door.
Some people were too damaged to ever change.
And Syrinx outright refused to touch anyone around her, flinching the first few times he did - it took her hours to calm down after the first touch, but by now she was more or less assured that he was not going to break her. The anxiety of being given to someone else was visible as she looked at him when Troilus opened the door. Palpable as she stepped out, tucking herself behind him as if he were a shield.
She followed.]
