very brief life update.
these are the noteworthy events, pretty much in chronological order.
- went on an wee-hours marine biology adventure to a tiny island (very tiny; a hundred metres across?)
- covered the National Day Parade (this required sacrificing several Saturdays and a Sunday to prepare, because we had to go to the rehearsals to find feature stories)
- watched Nine Inch Nails on possibly Trent Reznor's last world tour
- spent the week attending a geosciences conference and wrote about geothermal energy
- am running a half marathon tomorrow
- then going to work to cover the National Day Rally (this is like the State of the Union address...possibly longer)
- then going to Inner Mongolia to write about tree-planting projects and desertification
