Her mother was late. Again. Hebe might have been upset if she wasn't so used to it, but she was aware her mother had a job, and sometimes that got in the way of picking one's daughter up from work on time.
From her place on the park bench, she settled her chin on a knee. Fifteen more minutes, and her mother would be half an hour late. But the little goddess could gather up enough patience to withstand that fifteen minutes. She was tired, and therefore unwilling to be too unreasonable about tardiness. Her eyes slipped shut against the sun, blocking out most of the light as she hugged her knees closer to her chest.
If only napping on the bench wouldn't make her look like a homeless person.
