They spoke and ended on a good note, then nothing.

Sigyn wasn't unused to him disappearing but to not even answer her calls or texts? She was torn between worry and just apathy. Angrboda was here, after all, and while she could never resent the woman it did make her feel... insecure. Even with Loki's assurances. Well, those thoughts for later, her aunt was being rather creepy, but Sigyn knew better than to ignore things.

Go to the snake exhibit in the zoo. What for? She didn't care for snakes and it was past opening times. Still, she was if not a bit resourceful, so walking across the snake and reptiles area, she stopped. What was she doing here? Really, didn't she have more things to worry abou-

Her train of thought came to a sudden halt when she realized that at the bottom of the snake pit she was currently standing by- was a man. Mother fucker.

No movement came from below to indicate he'd heard her approach. Loki, in all of his pathetic weakness, sat perfectly still up against the furthest wall. Quiet, like a statue. In reality, everything going on in his mind was anything but quiet.

Snakes. Snakes, everywhere. Not a sea of them, only about ten at the most, but the number didn't matter -- it was the proximity that did. His heart was beating at what was probably two hundred miles per hour, racing in his veins and pounding in his ears. Blocking out all other sounds.

None of his pain was localized. It burned everywhere. In his dislocated left should (from struggling, from hanging; it hadn't been a pleasant last few days), in his chest from the poorly stitched stab wound, in all the bruises adorning his body. The tender flesh at his wrists, still bound by handcuffs.

Snakes too close. Way too close. Going to bite him, going to drain him, poison him with their venom. Going to die, die in a snake pit. Alone and in agony.

Too close.

Mother. Fucker. Sigyn's mind repeated, she looked at the man in the corner- Loki- and it was when her heartbeat began racing and not in a good way. There was the urge to freak out and give into panic. However, she had more than enough practice with these types of situations, what she had not expected was how much it hurt seeing him like that.

Deep breath. Focus.

Panicing served no one. Instead she pulled out her phone dialling 9-11, she figured to start with that while she found a way to get to Loki. One short-phone call later, and the goddess was pressing her hands against the wall, akwwardly looking for the handle that would lead her inside to the enclosure.

Kingsnakes. Not poisonous but -

- but

-fuck.

Sigyn didn't want to panic, and wading through a pit of snakes for him was not that bad (as things went) it was his state that concerned her."Loki!"

Snakes were talking to him. In Sigyn's voice. But they didn't talk, did they? Not like Jormungand. No, a voice from above -- but Loki didn't want to move. Didn't want to breathe, didn't want to think just in case thinking alone would get them moving toward him. He wasn't a threat. He wasn't a threat, so they'd stay ignorant until he posed a threat.

Loki would've covered his ears if he could.

Shut up, snakes. Stop talking.

No answer, nothing. Something in her chest constricted painfully, she had to hurry and find- there- the door was locked and sent the girl into a string of colourful swearwords. "Loki, I'm coming down just give me a second." She muttered more to herself than him.

This is clearly why she learned to pick locks.

Sigyn took a few more tries before the door gave way and she was heading down. Fucking snakes. She didn't like snakes (unsurprisingly), but she was not scared of them (and even if she were, she'd suck. it. up. and deal for Loki). "Loki." Sigyn tried again, feet touching the ground.

No, she was not going to rush in blindly.

Still talking. Closer now. How could they talk, they had no fucking vocal chords. And they sounded like Sigyn. It was sickening and unfair. His fingertips brushed the way behind, one of his first signs of movement since being deposited in here.

He glanced up, wondering if the snake was coming closer to him to have a conversation. Yeah, they weren't that bad if they'd engage in friendly conversation. And then he saw her. How horrible did he look? How pathetic?

"... Sigyn." Just a whisper.

"Yeah. I'm here, Loki." Making her way to him was not so easy, but Sigyn was not an environmentalist, so kicking a snake or two out of the way was not a sin in her eyes. Without second though she touched him once she was by his side, "Loki." Yeah, calling the ambulance in advance had been a good idea.

There were faint sounds of voices and lights in the background, Sigyn didn't pay them any attention. "It's okay." She tentatively reached out with her ability- mostly useless except for occasions like this. The skill to relieve pain. Her fingers curled around his arm lightly.

And while the pain relief wasn't immediate, it made a difference. His shoulder, which remained dislocated and probably would until it was reset, slowly began to ache less and less. The wound in his ribcage, the pounding in his temple.

Loki wanted to hug her, but the handcuffs were preventing that. Instead, he touched his bruised knee to her side, the only way he could reach out to her. Words wouldn't come to him, not quite yet, and probably not for another while. But the appreciation was there. Sigyn was here with him.

No dying, not today.

loki, sigyn
