Somewhere on the island, a clock is striking ten in the morning. Not that Ryoji is aware of it just yet--he'd always been a night person and therefore, never a morning person. Ever since he didn't have to wake up early for school, he'd fallen into the habit of 'anything before nine is too early'.
The sunlight is shining through and it's stirring him to get up--he's still in that haze where it's a pain to even consider getting out of bed. He'd just had the nicest dream that happened to feature one or more of the lovely girls he'd met on the island, and right now the sun and the wriggling ball of whatever it was down by his feet needed to leave him alone and--
He bolts out of bed once he realizes whatever it is, it's not supposed to be there. While it's too early to think properly, first his mind goes to the snake and then to something else and then--when his eyes readjust, he sees whatever it was had balled up in it's blanket and was breathing slowly and he wanted it gone. Approaching it steadily, feeling weird that he even has to approach his own bed this way, he tosses the blankets off, revealing the thing inside wasn't quite as dangerous as he thought.
It's Ai-kun, Ranka's pet. "Pet" because he doesn't know what Ai-kun is and is pretty sure Ranka doesn't either. It's...squeaking or whatever you can call the noise it makes and it hops over onto his leg. He feels a bit sheepish for getting scared of it, but he pets it and laughs like he's embarrassed. "You scared me, you know?"
Ai-kun doesn't say anything of course, and Ryoji wonders what he's doing down here anyway. Lost? Maybe Ranka is looking for him? He quickly gets dressed as Ai-kun takes his sweet time chewing on one of his pillows (what kind of a pet eats pillows?) and he gently scoops it up and wanders down the hall to find it's owner. Sure enough, there she is, knocking on doors to see if any of them had seen her pet.
"Ah--there you are!" She shouts happily as she rushes over, taking Ai-kun from his hands and holding him close (in that instant, Ryoji is a bit jealous but the feeling passes). She looks up, asking where he had gone, and all Ryoji can answer with is the facts. She laughs. In truth, the visual of Ryoji being scared of Ai-kun is oddly cute.
While he's a bit embarrassed and wondering if it would have been better to answer with something a bit 'manlier', she lifts the animal to his cheek and it licks him. Not quite the kiss on the cheek he was looking forward to, but he knew he'd have to give Ranka time before that ever happened.
"Ahaha, I think he likes you~" She says, with a cheerful smile. "He knew just where to find you, too--!"
"I like him too--!" He says, but the lingering question in his mind is how to properly word the phrase 'this morning I woke up with an alien in my bed' and not sound absolutely crazy.
