Concert weekend was a pretty good success
The concerts were a blast. I messed up on a dancing part during Dancing Queen at the afternoon performance but think I held my cool. I realized I had messed up about the time I got a poke in my back from one of the girls and was able to slide into the next dance move with ease. Thankfully I didn't mess up any words! Towards the intermission during the first performance, my bone spurs were really killing me so Jan (a fellow chorus girl and a terrific chiropracter) offered to massage my feet - I owe her big time! I was pleased to see all the friends that had turned out at the event - we had a good mix of SOs and friends at each performance so we always had someone to show off for :). I was disappointed that none of my family members didn't go (Thor, of course, did come). We even gave Thor's mum tickets for Yule and they still bowed out.
In between performances, I had a fanstastic dinner at Julia Blackbirds on 32nd just east of Lowell - that's some yummy New Mexican food!!! Highly recommended. We had a 'cast party' at the end at the theater and "my girls" got on stage and danced to YMCA. I had to come join them and was able to entice the gorgeous MJ up to join us. Kinda goofy but fun.
After dragon212k dropped me off at home (Thor had opted to get some shut-eye rather than come back for the cast party), I got ready for bed and experienced every tired performers' worst nightmare - the toilet overflowed. Now that in and of itself would be bad enough, but since we live in a house where the landlords' motto is "why pay full price when they can do it half-assed for half the cost" - the water on the floor leaked onto the downstairs bathroom and stairwell below as well as out into the upper hallway, soaking the carpet. I didn't know that much water could come from one tank. I was so tired and achey and this was just too much for me, I woke up Thor to help clean and we finally got to bed around three. He did spend a little time massaging my calfs that had been worked into little knots from the days events - as I have a tendency to get charlie horses really easy. I definitely have a terrific husband!!!!!!!!!
I really liked the board game day valdurfee and tangentier had on the next day. Gave me a chance to visit with most of the girls in a more one on one setting and it was just a very relaxing day playing games. I really blew it at the trivia game. Either I was just more tired than I thought or else the questions just weren't my bag this time around. But I still had a lot of fun and look forward to more. Next time I'm bringing Outburst and Miriam is bring Encore - that should really be interesting.
And I really can't wait until the next DWC practice for the new season - The performance is in June and the songs will center around the Constitution. Should be a very interesting performance.
