Gaming Group

I have to get ready to host a somewhat informal event at our house this next Tuesday. The gaming group I belong to meets every-other Tuesday at the house of whichever group member wants to host. We pass around the privilege (or duty) of GM/Storyteller and use various different systems (Dungeons & Dragon, GURPS, Over the Edge, Amber Diceless, and so on) and play card games and board games between different games or when the GM is ill. It is my turn to be up as the GM, and There will be board and card games, and we are starting on character creation for my campaign, which will be a GURPS game in the modern urban fantasy / magical realism genre. Game Setting

New Oxford (sometimes known by the nickname "Nox") is a College town, home to New Oxford University. Other higher education schools in the New Oxford area include Ashram University, and the Technical College. There are mountains to the North of New Oxford, the Dover Hills, and you can take the road up to the loosely-formed Alpine City in the high country. Running South from New Oxford, the Expressway takes you to Dover. Grove National Forest is to the West, and Roosevelt City is to the Southeast, just past farmland.
Dover is a sprawling city on what was once a hilly prairie. While New Oxford University is more well-known, Dover is also home to several schools, including Statewide Community College, Agricultural Institute (Old Aggie), and Dover Urban College. The Dover metropolis is actually composed of several different cities, suburbs and distinct neighborhoods, including Dover, Downtown Dover, Aminon, Redcrest, Walville, The Triangle, Cherry Orchard, Lorhurst, Ironton, Little Italy, BoHo, Chinatown, and so on. The Regional Transit Authority (RTA) runs the Metro and Intercity Rail, as well as bus lines. Dover is intersected by two Interstate Freeways (one running East-West, and one running generally North-South), the Rocky River, and a couple of major rail corridors. You can take the expressway North to New Oxford, or the Interstate Northeast to Roosevelt City (the freeway continues North through the Indian Reservation (home of the Cibola Casino), and eventually you get to Shallow Springs). If you take the Interstate South of Dover you head towards South City. The destination of the Interstate West from Dover is Fort Dominion, and to the East goes past Dover Airport and to Wilbur (past Wilbur, you eventually get to Pastureburg).
The last game I ran in this setting was "The Con Game" (set at a Science-Fiction Convention), and my new one is tentatively titled "The Curious Case of Doctor MacGuffin"...
