I've been working on my City and Guilds embroidery diploma for ... oh, years. Quite literally years - during which time I have changed job, taken up working 114 miles from home and started work on my Doctorate. I like to be kept busy, you see. :-)
Tonight, I finally finished the final peice!
Well, okay, I still have two samples to mount and I have to add a few pages of text (most of which is cut and paste work to make it look pretty.) But all the sewing is done. I think I'm in shock ...
This is the box I designed and made to present my 'History of British Embroidery' samples. It's roughly 18inches square and 6 inches deep. I had to use a curved needle to put it together, my fingers are sore, my floor is littered with snippets and threads, and it's far too late in the evening ( or early in the morning) to be up and working - but it's done.
Next week I shall get it delivered to my tutor who will (hopefully) sign it off and organise the award of my diploma. which will probably take months to reach me, but I don't care. i can finally - finally - get back to stitching the sorts of things I want to stitch.
I've almost forgotten what that feels like ...
