These are my last words as your queen. Mark them well.

When I am gone, it will be easier to forget what I have done. For they say that women should be gentle, do they not? Timid and sweet, like cows left to await the pleasure of any bull that takes it into its head to rut with them.

I have never been gentle, but there are those who would gentle me once I am dead.

They will say, Queen Daciana's beauty was so great that the armies of her enemies lowered their shields before her gaze and wept.

They will say, Queen Daciana's wisdom was so deep that she sat in the most honored seat in the Hunting God's temple, and the most learned scholars in the kingdom came to hear her words.

They will say, Queen Daciana's voice was so sweet that she charmed the beast from his home in the woods, so that he would fight for her and her alone.

All these and more, because of what a woman should be.

What they will not say is this:

Armies bowed before me because I forced them to their knees, by fire and sword. I pulled their soft and inbred kings from their glittering thrones and bade them to swear loyalty. I took their wretched, conniving nobles from their villas and cut their throats so I could spill their blood on salt-sown earth. Armies bowed because my spies poisoned their food and water; they bowed because if they did not, they would never stand again.

The learned men of the Hunting God never let me into the temple by their own choice. I threw their doors open with my own hands after eleven days of holding them under siege; I sat myself on their golden seat and found the gilt was nothing more than peeling paint under my hands. What wisdom can men who had never wanted for a meal in their lives or a roof over their heads offer the poor, the homeless, the destitute?

I won the beast not with my voice, but with my body. I went into his woods alone to seek his counsel, and he leaped onto me when I was unguarded. It was for hours that we fought, until all the ground around us was churned into wet mud. When he could no longer lift his head, I let myself yield, in the way that only a woman may: spread my legs and sank down and took his self into me, giving and conquering all at once.

When they ask you what your queen's greatest triumph was, what she did and loved best in all her days, tell them this, for this is the truth:

She lived.

Pfff of course i love it. :d And the way you managed to get all the prompts in there -- I have a lot of fun going through it and picking at it here and there, even working in blonde = gilt, and the predatory nature of the queen, and I love how you bring up the point of how women are usually recorded as effective in history only in the ways of 'what a woman should be' - sweet, wise, beautiful. And how, ultimately, she lived life to the fullest, even in war and conquest and her deeds; it gives such a strong impression of someone who chose her style of warfare not out of malice but out of passion, and some necessity.

It's such great atmosphere and a strong sense of character, so full of vibrant life. I always love seeing your work because you always nail that so effectively. :)
