It Ain't Over Till The Fat Lady Sings
Or until statements post correctly in the nightly cycle. Depends on your perspective.
Sunday ended up being an 18+ hour day and quite a bit of it was hell. Still, once all was said and done the upgrade went live. Unfortunately that was not the end of the story. While many, many things are going well there are the usual after-implementation issues to deal with. In this I have gotten lucky - the majority of my systems are running as expected/designed and aren't affected by the other problems. /sigh of relief.
I was able to take part of the day off on Monday (after working that morning). Once I finally went to bed I slept for 12 hours straight. I am still a very tired puppy though. Very much a Zombie Mythicalgirl these days. Thank goodness next week is an extra long 5-day weekend. My big plans include (wait for it)...sleep! I know, I am such the party animal.
In non-work news I finished season 2 of The Tudors. Overall I was not as impressed as I was with season 1. Season 2 was enjoyable but I found myself getting just a wee bit bored with Queen Anne. Henry's Great Matter was far more interesting in the years before he married Anne. Plus I'm definitely Team Katherine and I missed her having screen time. Can't wait for Season 3 to come out so I can get it on my Netflix.
I'm also a little more than 300 pages in to River Of Gods by Ian McDonald and loving every freaking word, man! I've had this book on my shelf since 2007 and have just never gotten around to reading it. What was I thinking? I am so glad I decided to finally pick it up. I'm a big fan of McDonald after reading Desolation Road. Add that to this being a story set in and about India (Sacred Games by Vikram Chandra is one of my favorite books) and I'm pretty much in heaven right now. I can't wait to finish the 250+ pages I have left but at the same time I'm dreading it being over. I will definitely be picking up Cyberabad Days next.
OK, I need to go brush and floss before I head out to my dentist appointment. Hopefully the next post will be a book review or something fun and have nothing to do with work.
