Hong Kong Day 01 Things that can go wrong...

May 01, 2007 23:17

I'll just do this point form in chronological order:

The Checking in:
- finish packing 5 mins before dashing into van and leaving for airport
- no line up, but apparently some other "Hannah Wong" already checked in.  THERE IS NO BLOODY TICKET FOR ME!!
- The same old obese caucasian lady doesn't label my luggage until I (traveling noob) asks.
God's blessing:
Bumping into a family friend who treated me to Starbucks and led me to the boarding gate! Very happy that God's looking out for me then things get more interesting....read on...

The flight
- TV screen has the potential to be about 3 by 2 meters wide, but isn't because of some malfunction
- the other Hannah Wong who took my seat is enjoying the spacious front section with a functioning screen ( I ended up nearly at the very tail of the plane )
- because I'm at the tail, by the time the meals get to us, we don't have a choice.
- generally excruciatingly long especially when spent next to a see lai (Chinese woman around your mother's age) who's antisocial and snores.

The exciting part:
As we hit currents of air we bob around a bit it was fun, but as we were about to land I get a massive nosebleed. I'm in the washroom now, and I've buzzed for a flight attendant who were a bit.. shocked to see the amount of blood my ample nostrils can put out. Actually, I already used a spare chapstick and took a Q-tip to swab my nostrils twice, ( not the same Q-tip ) but evidently it wasn't enough for my left nostril who decided to burst a vessal and protest the dry dry plane air.  I took a picture of me with the Air Can airsick bag full of bloodied tissues. ( they made me sit down and buckle up because we were about to land ... tho personally it's a lot more fun to plane surf. )

The local flora and fauna:
Currently I'm sitting in humid tropical air, I've seen two very very large cockroaches the size of a small egg, and I am still sick. Luckily my aunt told me to eat some pipa fruit which helps with chest things, coughing and the like. She peeled it with her grimy hands for my sake, and left it on the newspaper for me to eat. All three of them. Yes I ate it, it would be rude not to. I just hope my immune system is up for the challenge.
