so, today i went into d.c. with tara and ruth to see the cherry blossoms and stuff. can you say BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! the blossoms have come out on most of the trees, and it's just really cool to go see that sort of stuff every once in a while to remind yourself how utterly amazing our world is. the only uncool part was that the best blossoms were behind the wall around the washington monument where they are under construction for the ww2 monument they are building. this meant that nobody was allowed to go to those trees, which was very not cool.

anyway, today was, evidently, the 108th national kite flying competition on the mall. this is very cool to watch. this is not your grandpa's kite flying. this is "i'm going to take this, apply physics, and and make it an art form with years and years of practice." it's almost as if they train the kites to do tricks as if the kites (inatimate objects, mind you) were pets or circus animals. one of the guys even did a stall (a skateboard lipstall) with his kite, having it stand on one of it's corners and then jump back into the air. it was freekin AMAZING.

for those of you in japanese club, you had better be going. even if you don't go for the japanese culture aspect (which will be present) everything else about the festival is going to be amazing, so you should go. buy i have one warning for all of you. if you have to do anything on saturday, and therefor, need to leave the festival, take the amount of time it took you to get where you are, subtract it from the time you need to be where you need to be, and then add 30-45 minutes to that. the metro will screw you over if you're not carefull. the trains will not be there when you want them to be as a rule, so plan on that if at all possible.

well, the festival is lots of fun, so go if you have the chance.
