Thinman 瘦人乐队

Dec 27, 2008 22:06

I've been meaning to post here for a while, but never did get around to it. So here's my first post here at mysupercloud.

Thinman is a, well, rock band, which, in various incarnations, has existed since 1993. In their current form, Dai Qin is their lead singer (and ex-bass. Quite a move, heh). If you listen to their music, you’ll probably find Rage Against the Machine, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Smashing Pumpkins among other various rock legends influencing their sound. Needless to say, I shower them with much love.

Known as "King of China's Rock Scene," Thinman has a reputation to be explosive, filled with live performances and loved by fans. Their third album, "The Seventh Day" is their revival release after 5 years, taking one year and eight months to complete. The band joked that the album was made "Yuanyang pot" style. Yuanyang is the so-called hot pot, which is metaphorical musical style half seawater and half of the flame. Thin Man has always had hard rock characteristics, and this album is the integration into a more diversified form of mainstream music. This steaming hot pot is half bitter, half light, half hard, half warm--a mash styles to keep fans hanging, just enough to whet their appetite for more.

My favorites off the album include Track 1 (Isabella), Track 3 (Live On), and the title song Track 7 (The Seventh Day).

You can download the entire album over at cyranoia.
