UST WON!!!!! Yey! I've never been so proud to be a Thomasian! :)
I've got no more energy to discuss the whole championship, games 1 - 3 and all that jazz, but I tell you, I'm really REALLY happy!!! :)
Celest was an instant tv personality, haha! Wish I was there in Araneta too, but luck wasn't on my side. Even if I already got the ever precious tickets (which were really hard to get) that was, not to mention, COURTSIDE, I couldn't get out of the hospital earlier as I've previously planned (to go undertime, that is) since it was my turn to handle the freakin' toxic patient. Grrrr. But what the heck, they won!!! And I still managed to get home to watch the remaining 2 quarters of the game.
Okay. So talking about UAAP, earlier this day, I was in my Lola's store in Quiapo, Underpass. She had this photocopier business and all those office needs-thingy and stuff kind of store going on. So anyway, this Lolo asked if we could enlarge a page from his book and I happily accommodated him and said yes.
As it turns out, the book was an old (literally) book about UAAP stuff.. i mean, games and players and all. And the the page he wanted to be enlarged caught my attention as it was about the UST Growling Tigers (who had a different team name back then). So I stated a conversation with Lolo and it turns out that he was a former UAAP player. Now, for the record, Lolo is already 82 years old. He played the guard position and he was asking me to try and guess who he was amongst the group of players in the picture from the book. I was just AMAZED. 'Cos it's definitely not everyday that you get to talk to an actual living veteran who was a former UAAP player coming from my school. So I went on talking about how I was a fellow Thomasian, and a nurse at that, and he said no wonder he finds me beautiful *blushes*, 'cos I'm from UST daw, hehe! :) I asked him if he had watched the very recent UAAP championship game between AdMU and UST and he proudly said he did. He even told me that he had just come from UST earlier, with a proud grin on his face.
I wanted to chat more with him and find out old stories about the UAAP games (mind you, in the old book that he had, UST was the reigning basketball champions for consecutive years as it seems, starting 1946 or something like that.. and they even had a game against the U.S. Army!) but too bad I had to go 'cos my parents were already going home and of course, I was going with them.
So there. Kinda cool day. Pretty interesting. :)
Again, congratulations to the UST Growling Tigers and to the whole Thomasian Community! And as we like to say it again and again.. GO USTe!!! :)
