Thanks for all the kind comments. Here is the next part, and damn a little bit of angst might have slipped in...but I promise happy smiles and sappy lemons for the ending.
Finding Forever (2/?)
His head ached. That was what he woke to. A throbbing pain in his head and the feeling that the surface he was laying on was still moving. He kept his eyes closed, the idea of opening the heavy lids more than he could manage. From behind the door he could hear a female talking.
Where was he?
“NO mum, I’m fine. Aid needed a place to stay,”
Aid? Who called him that?
“He’s having a tough time and I didn’t want him to be alone.” A pause, “No mum I am not in love with him. He is a friend, maybe even an acquanticence. Alright I’ll call you later, and no more dates alright? I’m far to busy at work. Love you too mum”
The scent of feminine perfume heralded the newly opened door. It was a familiar scent, one of comfort and sophistication.
“Poor bastard.” Adrian felt a surge of indignation at that, until something cool touched his forehead. She draped a cool cloth over his eyes and was gently rubbing his temples.
“I know that your awake Aid. Give the potion a minute to absorb and it’ll stop the spins. I promise.”
He groaned. Who was--
Such sweet perfume and a combination of nurturing and bossy snark.
Granger.
“Granger?”
“Give the man a prize. I see that the alcohol is finally starting to run out of your saturated skull.”
“Don’t be catty, Kitten. I’m too drunk to properly snark back.”
“Tough Pucey, shouldn’t have had six screaming banshees. Do you have any idea of the alcohol content in just one of those? You aren’t an immortal. Alcohol is dangerous.”
“Who died and made you mediwitch?”
Silence.
“Oh shit.” Adrian felt his head throb again. He was a right bastard. “Granger-- I’m sorry I had no right to--”
“Just drop it.” Her voice was quiet. Filled with remembered sadness. “Go back to sleep and when you wake up we can discuss your situation.”
As quickly as she had come she was gone again, leaving behind the sweet smell of her perfume.
Shit
The one person that tries to help him, and he may as well have ripped a hole in her heart. He would figure out a way to make it up to her.
As he burrowed deeper into the covers, his minded faded to black thinking about how to apologize to his kitten.
