The next big thing

Why does Domino's Pizza not have an iPhone app? Today I ordered pizza (I had a coupon and it totally doesn't count as spending if it's cash, which I found in my jeans, so it's like free calories or something, shut up) and there was a link to share my order on Facebook. Now that struck me as pretty ridiculous and unnecessary, but in general I'm a fan of businesses jumping on new technologies like that in order to stay current. So this got me thinking...why do they not have an iPhone app yet? They have a mobile ordering site, but it's text-based, as those things tend to be, and not very elegant. There's actually a webapp for the Pizza Tracker, but it's not even made by Domino's. Do they not think it would generate boatloads of revenue? I think pizza ordering would go through the roof. Picture it: you could save your Dominos.com login so you had your locations preloaded, or have the option to send a GPS link to your exact location, maybe with an address decoder you'd be prompted to confirm. Besides the screens for each step of ordering, there could be a home screen that promoted whatever new menu items they have, a screen for coupons (maybe even some iPhone-exclusive ones to really push the platform), and a final one to track the order. Or maybe instead of saving the login, it could prompt you to log in every time, but would also save your credit card info to speed up purchasing and avoid having to type it out on the tiny keyboard. The whole Domino's website is already pretty slick-looking and it seems like the color scheme and the design of it would translate really well to the iPhone. Surely someone is working on this. I hate that this is the second awesome idea that I've had for an iPhone app that doesn't exist yet, but that I'm not in a position to create myself due to API limitations and proprietary business this and that.

You'd think I'd have more (or at least something different) to say, having just come back from a five-day vacation, but oddly enough I never make long posts about trips even though those are definitely memorable experiences that I should be capturing in mellifluous prose. I guess maybe I never feel like I can do justice to events that big, so I pontificate on minor thoughts or details of my day. What can I say? Oregon was amazing. Austin was fabulous. Here's a picture, guess which trip it's from:

I didn't take any pictures in Austin. Oh, except for this one:

But that's it. Most of the time in Austin I was either a.) in the water or b.) doing things I'd rather not have photographic evidence of anyway. Side note: since when does iPhoto publish images to Flickr sequentially? It used to really annoy me because it would try to upload them all simultaneously, which means the photoset would be all out of order. I actually stopped using it for a while because of that, but now it apparently does it right. Sweet...I'll have to get caught up with my picture posting. Right now I'm watching Milk and stuffing myself. Life is fat and happy.
