Although you can learn to make quite nice colourings with a mouse and of course a tablet takes getting used to (unless you're super talented), the tablet gives you more options for colouring/drawing in details and experimenting with your style. With a tablet it is also easier to experiment with painting programs, such as SAI.
I use Wacom Bamboo. As for using mouse/tablet... well, some people admit it's easier to use a mouse because they can't use a tablet properly? I think it comes down to experiences and talents and hard work at the end.
If you don't mind my asking, which tablet did you use? Would you say that a tablet is better/easier than a mouse?
