Doing the whirlwind until I power out.
Electrelane's June 9 performance at Johnny Brenda's was the second concert I went to that night.
There were steadily throbbing synths, a 90-minute build of pulsing energy...
...and, holy hell, so much rock! Not in the AC/DC sense, but in the "IWantToGoFuckingInsaneRightFuckingNow!!!!" sense. Yay.
Architecture in Helsinki was at the Starlight Ballroom earlier that evening.
They were way more disco-dancey than indie-rocky...
...but when you've got this many people in the band, guess you want to go for something big. Note: only about half of the band appears in this shot.
I got there in time to see Santogold go on, and it didn't click until they took the stage that "Hey, wait a minute, that's Santi White!"
She used to be in a pretty decent art-rock / pop band called Stiffed.
And now she's in a equally decent M.I.A.-ish dub outfit called Santogold. Guess it was dance night at the Starlight.
So much ferocity.
Despite the rain and humid haze, mad people turned out to see the Pipettes play the church on June 3.
The coregraphy and costumes seemed a bit gimmicky, but their songs were strong enough that they overcame the kitsch. I still can't get "Pull Shapes" outta my head.
