All the mayoral candidates, all lined up. Except Dwight Evans.

Again, one of the more fun things about my job is these political events I get to attend / photograph. This one was a student forum for Philadelphia mayoral candidates held last month at Central High School. Here, the student moderator waits for the room to quiet down so he can get things underway.

The blurry dude is Zach Stalberg, former Daily News editor, CEO of the Commitee of Seventy and long-winded speaker. He didn't do any talking at this event, just kind of watched. Guess the bone there is supposed to be there as an indicator of his self-imposed political watchdog role.

U.S. Rep. Bob Brady (D-Pa.1) makes a Donald Trump-style hand gesture. He's got a lot of backing, and some not-bad ideas, but I'm not sure how crazy I am about the idea of him winning. He was just reelected to U.S. congress in November for Chrissakes!

Sole Republican candidate Al Taubenberger shrieks about ethics reform.

Brady the Hut.

U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah (D-Pa.2), another I-just-won-reelection-but-I'm-running-for-mayor-anyway dude. But one who was featured on The Colbert Report. So he gets points for that.

Tom Knox, the non-politican in the race (he's a businessman) with those ads that are all "Help Tom Knox take the 'For Sale' sign off City Hall!" His intent with these ads, obviously, was to slam the Street administration for nepotism, plum contracts for campaign contributors, and other ethical lapses. Then again, with him being the billionaire in the race, the candidate people say they're afraid will "buy the election"...it's kind of deliciously ironic.

Michael Nutter, who is probably the most serious of the roster up there. He was the first to declare his candidacy, and immediately resigned his City Council post to concentrate on his campaign.

The crowd afterwards...

...and goddam does Knox look like a game show host.

I headed out to the Reading Terminal Market one morning last week to get photos for the Justice Talking webpage.

You can tell by the crowd (or lack thereof) that it's early morning. On a weekday.

Yum produce.

Yum inventory.

I got to shoot photos for the WDRE takeover of Y-Rock on XPN...if you don't remember 'DRE it was Philly's fluctuant but generally awesome alt-rock station through most ofthe '90s. It pre-dated Y100 (which predated Y-Rock), and like Y-100, was kicked off the air for a hip-hop station. Read more here. Stream the takeover here.

Former DRE-jays, from left, Jim McGuinn, Dan Fein, Bret Hamilton and Marilyn Russell. Jim, as you know from past photo-posts, now runs Y-Rock. Two of the other three now have shows on Y-Rock.

Awl cute fun posed portraity shot in XPN's studio!

Found this one in my wanderings through XPN's office. Viva Las Vegas!

This birdfeeder in my backyard is ostensibly squirrel-proof. Heh.

My favorite subway ad. Largely because those tables are totally doing it.
