Parker was on the ledge of a twenty-four story building, waiting for the go ahead from Nate to descend into the mark’s office. Suddenly she was falling.

“Dammit, Parker not yet!” Nate whispered harshly, surrounded by guests at a political fundraiser.

“Parker? Mama, what’s that about?” Hardison queried from the belly of Lucille 3.0, his eyes automatically turning to the monitor for video feed. He had a bad feeling as he zoomed in on his girlfriend.

“Nate, something’s wrong. She’s just...dangling there. I’m going up.”

“Nate, I’m already in the building.”

“Good call, Eliot. You go see about Parker. Hardison stay put.”

Hardison was about to raise an objection when Nate continued “If it’s serious, Hardison you know I’ll re-work the plan. Just, sit tight for a little ok?”

Hardison ran his hands over his face, steepled his fingers and stared at Parker’s limp form. “Ok.” He whispered.

“She’s unconscious, Nate, and bleeding,” Eliot said, what felt like an eon later.

“Alright. Eliot, Hardison, get her to a hospital. Sophie and I will wrap up here and then join you.”

Hospital regulations did not allow four visitors at a time for such a long period but the medical staff had only been trained to handle disease, not people who had once stolen ten million dollar statues on their day off and "borrowed" the Department of Defence. Parker kept drifting in and out of consciousness and her friends tried to keep each other from worrying.

“Hi, I’m Dr. Lawson.” A young woman said, closing the room door behind her. I have Parker’s test results right here. Can you describe the kinds of activities she was involved in this week?”

The group exchanged uneasy glances.

“Well, Parker, she uh, likes heights.” Nate began.

Sophie took his hand without looking at him, to better sell the part of being Mrs. Ford. “She went rock climbing almost every day,” she added, thinking about Parker rappelling off more than a few buildings for this con.

“She joined a gym,” Eliot added. The same gym as Martha Blake, in fact, the corrupt congresswoman she was trying to get close to.

“We toured a museum,” Hardison added, if you can call Parker crawling through ventilation shafts while he guided her on comms “touring”. He stood and moved closer to Dr. Lawson, worry making his stare intense.

“Please, just tell us what’s wrong with her.”

She smiled. “Nothing a few dietary and lifestyle changes can’t fix. She sounds like a very active person but from now on she’s going to have to stay with low to moderate impact activities. Walking instead of rock climbing, for instance.”

“Oh God. It’s a chronic disease isn’t it?” Hardison threw a hurried glance over his shoulder at Parker, looking for all the world like he was already planning her funeral. “I can’t-“Sophie pulled him into an embrace that hid his tears. The men moved to stand closer to Hardison in a show of solidarity.

“Whatever it is, Hardison, we’ll face it together,” Nate said.

“Yeah, man. Let’s just let the doctor finish. Don’t panic before you even know what we’re dealing with.”

Hardison raised his head from Sophie’s shoulder. “I’m sorry. Please continue.”

“Parker is pregnant .“
