Oh quite excited.. chose e colour scheme already. No idea how it would turn out but hopefully nice enough. =) *keeping fingers crossed* Hopefully it can be rushed out before.....heh =)
Anyway, caught 2 movies this week. Yes, a bit sad that I cant talk abt food. =( So yes, rattling on abt movies.
First one is Once in a summer. The thing abt korean movies is they are very predictable. They can find one thousand and one ways to narrate the same concept and same love story. Yet very often, people are still drawn into you. Perhaps everyone is a sucker for love...a form of love that each one yearns.. a simple..a touching..a heartwarming love. =) I wont say that this story is particularly heartbreaking... rather, it amazes me by how in ten days, an eternal bond is formed between 2 people and they can be so in love. the foundation seems weak yet both manages to hold on forever. The dichotomy between rural village and urban Seoul is used to great effect. The courting moments took up more than half of the film yet the sudden n bitter turn of events which resulted in separation was so short in comparison. A reminder to people that it just takes 1 circumstances...to make a change that u wont ever expect. =) It is a sweet story but it didnt really make me feel so deeply for the characters. E beauty in this film is how it was shot... and how it was told. Simple plot... i mean who cant figure out the ending? haha =)
The 2nd one is the Last King of Scotland. Towering performance and spellbinding entertainment. It narrates the story of the one of the world's most barbaric figurine: Idi Amin of Uganda. Forest Whitaker's portrayal of the dictator was splendid. James McAvoy plays the Scottish doctor, Nicholas who unwillingly became Amin's personal doctor. At first, Amin's charm attracted Nicholas but soon, Nicholas realised the horrors of Amin's doing around the country. With his soul on the line, he tried to make a difference and to leave the country. But of cos, with the twists in the plot....it wasnt that easy for him. (erm XX Xtold me that it had violent scenes but he didnt tell me it be that gross!! aarrgghh...that particular scene is still ringing through my head....gasp...such horror. Ya i blame XXX..haha =P) There're a few disturbing n violent scenes. It makes u wonder how someone who claimed to grow up in a poor family to be capable of such inhuman stuff. *Gasp* Anyway, outstanding performance and he deserves the academy award! =) [At 1 point i was quite sad that Leonardo didnt win that for his role in Blood diamon. Now i take back my views. heh] I realise dictators have a common characteristic: Charismatic. They are all very charismatic n very charming. Why? I mean look at Hitler. Why did he manage to rise up to such popularity? Not because of his knowledge or his capability, but his charisma. Look at him when he does his public speeches... u will know what i mean. THey know what it takes to capture people's hearts... yet becos they rise up e ranks so fast, they cant trust people too.
CNY is approaching....*SCREAMS* I like the break but e chores to be done is annoying...haha =) Have u done all ur preparations? I turning into delivery woman soon....30 tins of cookies, 20 tins of pineapple tarts, 13 cakes, 10kg of bah kwa to buy ( i think i bought more last yr...)... nian gao, GASP...hahahaha lalalalala.. it be one fantastic pix to take with all e food there. =)
