He waits until after hours, because he specifically does not wish to speak to a live person about this. Not yet.
A few rings, and the recorder picks up. He patiently waits through the recording until the beep (by now, he knows the words by heart, down to the last tiny nervous stutter of the secretary's recorded message). This time, he will actually leave a message instead of hanging up directly before the beep.
"Ah...yes...I would like to make an appointment with Dr. Braginsky as a new patient. My...my name is Kiku Honda. You can contact me at this number, (xxx)xxx-xxxx. I am available on weekday mornings." He waits a beat, and unsure of whether it is polite or not, adds in, "Thank you very much."
