The broken Honda and a new Dog

First...the cute pic...

He's my new adopted doggy...He showed up in Jason's yard and wouldn't leave. After a week and a half...I decided instead of taking him to the shelter...where they kill more dogs than they adopt out around here...that I'd keep him.

The vet figures he's about 2 years old...and he's a Bassett Hound/Jack Russell mix...maybe. We're sure about the bassett, not so sure about the Jack Russell.

The birds could care less about him...the kittens are hiding in the
closet.

See?

Now...Sam was named after the towing company that came to the accident scene and towed The Honda. I think the insurance man thinks that this is a little dent seeing as we were hit while turning left right past a red light where traffic was stopped. Here's what happened...Jason was trying to turn left across traffic that was stopped because the light was red. This stupid lady in a white car in the farthest lane stopped in what we thought was giving us room to get into the parking lot. Then she decided not to and closed the hole. He had nowhere to go, suddenly I hear and "Oh shit" and then big crash. Grey pickup truck practically in my lap. Now...we went back and took pictures with my phone of the skidmarks from the pickup truck trying to stop. The skid marks are 25 to 30 feet long. That's just from where he hit the brakes. I don't know how they can determine how fast he was going when he hit me...but...look at the pics. He had a little bit of speed going...and considering he was coming to a red light...

Of course...I was sitting in the passenger side of the car when it was hit...Jason was driving. The side of the car is pushed in almost 2 feet.

We don't know where or when the back-end got hit...only thing we can figure is that there was a 4th car involved.

Look! My Honda door had foam inside the door just like Jimmie's car does!

It even bent the roof of the car, this shows the passenger side but there is cracked pain and buckling over on the drivers side.

Now...I know I've made fun of the Honda. However...not anymore. My previous car never would have taken a hit like that.

Now for the funny/annoying part. State Farm...could very well decide to FIX the thing. A car in Tennessee isn't considered totaled unless the repair costs would be 75% or more of the value. Just waiting for the adjuster to look at it now. Part of me wants it to be repairable b/c then all it costs is my deductible. The other part of me doesn't want to drive the car if they try to fix it b/c they will have to weld new parts of the frame on it and I just don't believe its gonna be as safe. But that also means a car payment again seeing as the Honda has been paid for for a whole two months.

And of course we're hoping that the boys that ran into us don't try for some crazy lawsuit. I think at that point it would be on Jason...as he was the driver...as opposed to me. I know my insurance will cover their 1987 pickup truck...but I don't know what happens to the medical seeing as one of the boys hit his head on the windshield as he wasn't SEATBELTED!

And the absolute worst part? My rental car is a FORD TAURUS!
