2 Decades

So yes, today is my 20th birthday. I don't know why I'm being so pessimistic about it. All I can think is geez, there goes a fifth of my life...maybe a fourth, if I didn't inherit the longevity on my mother's side. Half-way to fourty, damn.... Why is that all I can think of?

The day wasn't too spectuacular. My mom, dad, Marc, and Alex came up on Saturday to celebrate then, so I kept kind of forgetting that today was my birthday. I found out at work that Emilly, the girl who works at the advising center, was having her birthday today too, so that was really cool. She invited me over to their office so I could share cake with her :) But other than that, it just feels like a normal day.

Am I feeling guilty that I outlived Stephen? I keep thinking of him.

Saturday was excellent, by the way. I got socks and grocery bags from my parents (I know it sounds weird, but I really wanted them!). And we hung out all day and went to Red Lobster for dinner. Most excellent...I'm still craving fried shrimp and crab legs, even though I just had them. They made me a cake and brought it up with them too. Yellow with chocolate frosting, just like when I was a kid.

Oh, another pessimistic thing: I'm so NOT excited to turn 21. I think I'm almost dreading it. At least it's a year away.

Happy Birthday to meeeee! :)
