Fuel Adjustment

It's a pun, you see! Because... it's a thing I do... at work...

Today was day 5 of 6? I made an adjustment to my schedule deleting my vacation day on Tuesday. It seemed really silly to work a 38 hour work week and then use a vacation day, worth 8 hours, to get up to 40. So instead I changed Monday into another 10 hour day for me. The plan was to work a little extra yesterday and a little extra today so I wouldn't have to work all 10 hours on Monday. And, well, I guess it worked *way* too well >_< There are certain things I can't do while working by myself. For example, going to the bank to drop off the deposits. Or driving to other stations to do a fuel survey. Or, for that matter, *any* paperwork is easier when you're not interrupted every other minute. "Oh, there's a problem. *BING BONG* Oh, there it is. *BING BONG* Hey, I think I know how to fix that. *BING BONG* Yeah, let me just... *BING BONG* Got it."

So I ended up working 10 and a half hour yesterday. Went home to get lunch and in under 15 minutes I got a call that one of the hoses had sprung a leak. Weekends are pretty busy, so that would need to be replaced, but I figured it could wait an hour or so while I ate some food. It really couldn't wait for me to come in today because, as established... lot of things that you can't do when working solo. So I clocked another half an hour putting a replacement hose together. Actually went pretty smoothly. Today was a lot quieter, probably on account of how rainy it was this morning. But I desperately needed to eat once my cashier showed up, and then taking care of things ended up pushing me up to 11 hours for today as well.

So, ironically, my plan to work a 10 hour day on Monday accidentally ended up guaranteeing that I'm working an 8 hour day on Monday. It's going to feel so good to get out at 1... it's been a while :p And I even get a cashier so I can do those things that require me elsewhere, again deposits and survey... probably lunch. And best of all, I end up with a 40 hour week. So I get to have my 4-day break without using any of my vacation days. The trailer's set up, so I shouldn't have any problem moving down there for the week. Usually the biggest deterrent is being too tired after work to actually set anything up.

My brother stopped by yesterday while I was at work (A pretty wide window, as established) and helped my parents fix up the pool. It's filling up again right now, standing at about 2 feet deep now. The hottest weather seems to be behind us for now, which is a shame. We were hoping that 90 degree day would help bring up the water temperature, but we missed it. But it's still a much earlier start than last year.
