Once More, With Feeling

This is my Buffy icon for the time being! I did a quick search, but will do so no longer, lest I find those last few spoilers, bwaha.

Favorite Musical Moments
Demons with very nice voices: She does very well with fiends from Hell, but lately we can tell....

Fabio: How can I repay...?
Buffy: Whatever.

Anya: It could be bunnies (BUNNIES....BUNNIES!)

Chorus: It's do or die.
Buffy: Hey, I've died twice.

Willow: I think this line is mostly filler.

Giles obviously has a wonderful singing voice. I also liked Buffy's a lot, and Anya was pretty amazing in her duet with Xander. Spike's voice as all right, but the dude is not okay unless there's music in the background. And Tara was also okay, although I didn't really care for her solo. It also seems pretty obvious to me that everyone recognized Willow's terrible singing voice and decided not to give her many lines.

What I loved most of all was Joss Whedon putting every ridiculous Musical-moment EVER into this episode, including the cheesy opening credits, the stupid "Oh, Billy, you little rascal!" smiles and giggles, and people not being able to hear someone singing right next to them if they're addressing the audience. Most of all, though, the episode ends by showing what really would happen if people regularly burst into song and revealed all of their feelings to one another. There are reasons people keep secrets from one another, although I am glad that Tara found out about Willow manipulating her. Willow did seem horrified by the fact that Buffy was in Heaven, too, so that's good. Also, OMG Buffy/Spike kiss! Although, it was such a ridiculous face-sucking kiss (presumably because it's a musical?) that I couldn't even enjoy watching it.

I now understand why Giles needs to leave. This season, especially, Buffy is leaving everything in his hands and not taking responsibility for shit. Normally, I would cry BS that they're just making up an excuse for him to leave, but it makes sense that she's despondent after being dead and in Heaven, and now having to be in the world again. Giles's gift of money was wonderful, but she does keep leaving everything in his lap: research, disciplining Dawn, etc.

Did Dawn go through puberty or something between seasons 5 and 6? She looks a lot different, suddenly. Maybe she's wearing more makeup now, since it's no longer necessary to play-up her "innocence" all season long.

Anyway, I spent nearly the entire ride home listening to my favorite songs, and I love them. I really like watching Buffy struggling with her apathy about life. I identify with it in a lot of ways.

I'm really interested to see how Buffy and the Scoobies move on after all of this - indeed, "Where do we go from here?"
