On Episode 2...

After the excitement of last week, and the wonderful episode it brought, I thought watching the second episode was kinda anti-climactic. The whole time shift was a bit odd and didn't flow really well. Like last week Mary was praying for Matthew out of terror and now that fear and imminent danger seems to have dissipated. Hmm...

So the romantic entanglements are...well, more entangled. Sir Richard Carlisle has my heart. Truly. For being one of the most sleazy, obnoxious, and downright sickening suitors of all time. He's even worse than Mr. Preston in Wives and Daughters. He give me goosebumps, but out of fright every time I hear him talk. That scene with Mary in the garden and the other one with her in the train station gave me the creeps, frankly. I wouldn't even want my enemy to be married to someone like Carlisle.

And Mary! Oh, now she can rip my heart to shreds. It's so sad watching her suffer on screen, especially watching her pining for Matthew. If Michelle Dockery doesn't get recognized for her excellent, nuanced performance, I will lose my (already little) faith in the acting industry. Oh and Carson was such a dear. Always loved Carson's affection for Mary.

Matthew was a...bit of boor this time. I HATED him being so obtuse. Yes, I think that's it! Matthew is so obtuse it's not even funny. I know he's wounded from the war and all, but I still can't excuse his behavior towards Mary again and again. It's just  not becoming, and certainly not gentlemanly. Too bad because I actually kinda liked him in Season 1.

The other characters I don't particularly care for so I can't say much else. Just impatient for what happens on the M/M score. But that means I'll have to get through my anatomy exam, which has been so difficult to prepare for.

Ah, we shall see....
