HERE IS MY OFFICIAL RECOUNT OF THE COLBERT RÉPORT TAPING.
LINE: We waited in it. Courtney brought her DVD player and we watched some old Craig clips for a little while, and then we just talked and spazzed and froze our butts off (literally--we were sitting on the cold concrete)
INSIDE: There were lots of people, and a poster of Stephen. The staff kept giving me funny looks.
SITTING: They wouldn't let us sit where we wanted, but it was okay. Even though there was sometimes a camera in front of me, I had Courtney on one side and my dad on the other so I could just move around to see.
WARM-UP PETE: Might have noticed that I was obsessed. Courtney and I kept jumping up and down and waving our hands (Pete: does anybody here tivo the shows and watch them when they have nothing better to do? Courtney and me: WOOOHOOO!! Pete: Yes, I'd suspected as much). warm-up pete introduces...
STEPHEN: He ran out in his little yellow tie with blue dotses, and did a victory lap around the set. Stagemanager mark was holding the microphone out for him, and he missed it the first time, so he had to double back and get it. He said hello and thanks for pretending to like him and everything and then he asked if anybody had any questions. Courtney and I raised our hands, and a few other people did too. I was super happy because Stephen called on me first. YAY. I started out by telling him about my two toy poodles whose ears perk up whenever they hear his voice on TV, and then I was going to ask him about his dog, Gipper, but he cut me off before I could ask the actual question and just talked about how small dogs were his target audience. Then Courtney asked about a TDS reunion. He said no :( but maybe he'll tell Jon and then can do something now that somebody's mentioned it. He also was funny and all, "Has it really been 10 years? Man, that means I have to go get a colonoscopy." and then he was really cute and said "Well, The Daily Show didn't really start until 1999 when Jon took over." and I went "AWW". Then some other guy asked a question (I don't remember it; I was too gushy over Stephen!Jon), and then one of the VIP people goes "how did you get the ink off of your face?" Stephen tried at first to play it off like, "what? are you saying that I'm a brownnoser?" and then he got kinda angry (stephen hates you) and said "jeez, why don't you just blow the whole show?" anyways, we were confused.
SHOW: So, Courtney and I are the high-pitched screams throughout the whole show. And I'm the one who does the retarded laugh after he says "FBI". I'm not gonna retell the whole show since it was on TV, but the commercial parts were cute. After the first one, he had to get the ink off of his face. Two makeup artist ladies ran out and one of them used baby wipes on him and the other one powdered his face. He had a little powder compact he was looking in the whole time and he kept telling them what to do, and then at the end when they were done powdering him, they handed him an eyeshadow compact and he put on his own eyeshadow. AWWW!!!! I want to marry a man that will put on his own eyeshadow.
Stephen only made one mistake, really, and that was during the Word when he said "southern bordee" instead of "southern border".
During the second commercial part, stagemanager Mark came out and said something to him and then he threw up his hands and went "oh, fuck!" and it was cute. Anyways, turns out that they had just lost the questions for him to ask Stephanopoulos and so they brought him out a blue index card and he lit up his pen and tried to rewrite them really fast. He did, but it turns out that he didn't need to hurry, so now he had a bunch of extra time. He turns to Stephanopoulos, who's been trying to raise his chair the whole time, and starts making googly eyes at him and doing flirty waves and the like. Like whoa.
During the last break, he got out his little dreamsicle for his "I have a Dreamsicle" speech, and I was disappointed because I thought he would fellate it like he normally does with food on the show. But he just ate it and got a brain freeze, and it was cute because he actually looked hurt! *insert concerned look here*
I was really really excited to meet Courtney (courtney_beth) and we had SO MUCH FUN together. She's SOOOO sweet! I was really sad to have to leave! And now she's not online to spaz with me! How dare she!
