Photography

When LJ first came about, digital cameras started becoming all the rage. Well there abouts anyways, but yeah.

Now, everyone has a digital camera, hell even a camera on their phone. I've been reviewing a lot of photos, and reflecting on when I first started photography, with a Nikon N65. There were a lot of hit n misses in the learning curve using my film camera, even when it was in Program mode. Now, digital cameras are so advanced, the only talent needed is to have a good eye.

I recently found a bag of film from before we moved, about 5 years old or so. 5 years ago was still in the heat of digital rage, but I had a hankering to fool around with some film again, and dug out my Nikon N70 (fancier souped up film SLR, upgrade from the N65). There are also two rolls of film from my Diana toy camera. I am taking them in tomorrow to be developed and I can't wait to see the results.

But anyway, here is my bottom line opinion. Anyone can be a good "photographer" if they have a good eye.
Hell, even someone with no lean towards decent composition can take a wonderful photo, mainly because it's all the camera doing the work.

Myself included, if a totally manual film SLR were put in my hands, I would be challenged to take photos of similar quality compared to the snaps taken with my totally automatic fancy digital camera. Think about it. Our cameras calculate exposure, light, focus, metering, temp (white balance), resulting in perfect lighting, contrast and all that. We are spoiled.

I'm in the market for a 'new' digital camera, seeing as I'm not happy with Sony, going to get another Olympus or perhaps a Canon, (Nikon too expensive), and it will be an older model but still fancy to be sure. In the mean time I am going to challenge myself and dig up my N65, throw it into manual mode and focus the lens myself, and hope for the best.

That being said, I LOVE all the wonderful photos I see thanks to the magic of foolproof, no need for talent cameras. I love 'supermacro', and auto everything.

Oh, did I tell you I can't wait for my Macro/Wide angle lens to arrive for my IPHONE!!!
