Easily amused

Found a lovely new addiction recently. It's called prompt_a_day. Every day the mod posts a promt, you write something. It was featured on the front page of LiveJournal (which is how I found it) and it's gotten a ton of traffic lately. I've been doing it for a while and it's a lot of fun. The Christmas prompt was a lot of fun to write and it's the only one I've written so far that hasn't been set in my Little Red Death 'verse. I've been keeping links to the comment ficlets here so that I can find them in the future if I need them.

Heck, I've already screwed with my own continuity.

One of the prompt replies deals with two characters who talk about events that are going to happen after The Mother's departure. Then I get all inspired and write an entire story, 3,500 words worth, based on that exchange and I don't realize until I'm editing the damned thing that I've set the story back before The Mother leaves. And because of overall continuity, I can't change it.

Soooooo... yeah. The prompt responses are sort of like canon for LRD 'verse, but subject to change. Because I'm fickle and silly like that.

It's nice to do some writing again, though. I say that as if it's been more than a couple of weeks since I wrote, but it does feel like it's been a while. I'm happy mucking about in my little playground here. I created over thirty god characters and just those, in themselves, are enough for me to keep writing little vignettes and stuff for a long time, much less establishing a second arc for the plot. The first arc of which, you know, is still in my head, waiting for me to finish. And I'm going to finish it. It's just a matter of time. Anyway, the writing is fun and stress free. I've made, mentally, a couple of connections between the other gods who I haven't played with yet and perhaps very soon I will put up a timeline for the series and a list of the gods. Just for fun.

Hmmm, I think that's it. Now I'm going to let that story I was talking about above percolate for another hour or two and then it'll probably be up here. Yay, accomplishment!
