COMMENTS WANTED!!!A scene from my story Thief’s Blood
By David Patterson

The four of us stood dazed as the orcs ran and fled from the camber hiding behind pillars, I pits, and in cracks.
“Zed, what the hell is going on?” said Lute, caution and fear in h is voice, “The orc s had us surrounded, with no way to escape. What the hell are they doing?”
Suddenly the cavern’s massive doors exploded into flame and an immense form with bat like wings that spanned twice its twelve foot height, spr ead wide in the gigantic cavern. It h ad two horns that curved forward from the sides of its large skeletal head. Its enormous, muscular, red body was covered in scales and outlined in flame. In its right hand it held a ten-foot blade made in the shape of a lighting bolt sheathed in flame wit h electricity coercing along its deadly blade so sharp it seemed as if it might cut you to the soul. Its left hand held a wicked many-thronged whip coated in flame and covered in spikes, hooks, and hammers.
“I t’s a balor!” cried Zed, the resounding echo t hat followed adding extra emphasis to his fearful cry.
“What! Zed you can’t be serious all the balors were sent to the Abyss along with their tanar’ri hoards!” said Talosen braking away from his usually detached tone. The balor roes up standing at its full twelve foot height, the flames that highlighted it flared up searing all the orcs stupid engulf to not to run from its ominous presence. The mighty tanar’ri moved slowly in o its chosen prey lashing its whip pointlessly against the stone of nearby pill ars reducing them to nothing but mounds of rubble.
“SO YOU ARE THE STUPID MORTAL FILTH THAT DARES TO INTERFERE WITH MY PLANS!” boomed the voice of the m ighty fire demon. “I AM THE BALOR DETRAGORON MASTER OF THE FIRST LAYER OF THE ABYSS. KNEEL AND TREMBLE AT MY TERRIBLE POWER!”
“I don’a care what the beastie is I’ll let me ax do me talking!” said Welgar as he charged t he balor his battle-ax raised high. The strange skeletal head of the tanar’ri tilted to the side and seemed to grin at the insignificant l ittle being that dares to attack it. The balor raised its giant arm pointed at the charging dwarf who suddenly stopped as if encountering the invisible web of a giant spider. With a single swift motion of its index finger the dumb founded dwarf began to b e pulled towards the demon’s fiery vestige.
“Holektru avan alestuno covectu xaltras zanixrtrax,& #8221; said Zedicus in the strange language of spell casting while making strange gestures with his hand, witch began to glow with an unearthly light, “talestu vana gras DARAXION!” With that a strange white energy flew from his hands colliding just above the tanar’ri’s head. After colliding the energy began to farm into a white cloud that rained down ice, sleet, and all manner of cold weather phenomenon. Detragoron r oared with pain as the ice effects and deep cold saturated it,
& #8220;IMPUDENT LITTLE WRECHES! HOW DARE YOU EVEN ATTEMPT TO INJURE ME!” roared the mighty demon. Sudently Zedicus doubled over in pain as if some unseen force were attacking him, Lute and Talonsen D rew their weapons looking around them franticly tr ying to find the invisible attacker. Then Tal noticed the balor the monster wasn't moving to smite them instead it was pointing directly at Zed.
"Damn-it! Lute the bastard's attacking Zed with some sort of magic, Welgar get him now!" cried the thief fran ticly. Hearing his friend's words the dwarven warrior grabbed his fallen battle-axe, his rage from before now doubled by the monster that now threatened his friend's life. With a war cry that would do even Cligadin proud Welgar charged the huge tanar'ri axe upraised however the balor concentrating on the one target he perceived as a threat never saw the enraged dwarf coming. With a swing of his axe that was comparable to one of Zed's lighting bolts Welgar struck Detragoron right down his side, blood that looked like molten lava flowed freely from the wicked wound that down almost the whole entirety of its right side. Without a second thought the balor turned its full attention to Welgar, lashing out with its wicked whip the weapons magic enacted its self instantly entangling the dwarf in its many-throngs. The weapon's multitude of spikes and hooks dug into Welgar's flesh sinking in through the small gapes in his old chain mail armor.
"SOON YOU SHALL DIE IN THE ABYSSAL FIRES STUPID FOOL!" Laghed the demon malisioushly. Sudently the tanar'ri roared and droped its whip in pain, astonished Lute and Zed gazed at the sorce of the monster's pain. To their mounting surprise they found Tal, the normaly detached and uncairing thief was behinde Detragoron his "cold iron" raiper loged to the hilt in the demon's back.
