I literally JUST came up with this and it’ll be a fun thing for me to do, so many you’ll join in! I tried to be generic but there are some that only really apply to either my hobbies or just Japanese doramas/movies but you can customise it to your needs xD

Some notes of Explanation:
Second Lead Sydrome: This is when the (usually male) second lead character in a show is a thousand times better, and a thousand times more decent and interesting than the main character/lead. This usually pops up in Romance shows/movies.
Tokusatsu: A whole Kamen Rider / Super Sentai / Ultraman / Garo show.
Live Action: Usually a show or movie adapted from an anime or manga.
2.5D Inspired: 2.5D is a type of theatre in Japan that has produced shows such as Prince of Tennis, Hakuuki, Touken Ranbu, My Hero Academia etc. So watching a DVD or seeing a movie version (there is the Touken Ranbu movie and a Patarillo movie and probably a Messiah movie coming out this year) of something that was a 2.5 performance first.
Idol Lead: originally this said ‘JE lead’ but then I wanted it to be more applicable to Taiwanese or Korean or some other Country’s shows too. So anything that has an Idol as a main character (JE, EXILE, SM, YG, AKB etc.) counts here.
Terminal Illness: SO many shows now have main characters or supporting characters who are dying from and/or die from a terminal illness - especially the older characters in Japanese shows.
Stereotypical Male Lead (Character or Actor): The reason why Character or Actor is here is because there are always two outcomes:
1. The main character has been seen in a billion other shows before (HanaYoriDango/Boys Over Flowers-type leads for example), and you know straight away exactly what he’s like and what his story arc is going to be.
OR
2. They’ve casted an actor (usually a young, very attractive, very popular Model-Turned-Actor) that is just EVERYWHERE these days, and is a very predictable casting choice. Some great examples are: Yamazaki Kento, Suda Masaki, Fukushi Souta, Mackenyu, Shison Jun, Matsumoto Jun, Kimura Takuya etc.
Hyped/Loved: This is just a show that: everyone seems to love; everyone seems to be excited for; AND/OR everyone seems to be watching. regardless of whether you end up liking it or not.
If you have any questions, let me know! Also if you’re going to join me: LET ME KNOW TOO!
