PREVIOUS POSTS Here is the movie edition of 'The Last Things I Watched'!! And today I have 6/7 Japanese films to discuss with you! All of which I think I watched this past week! o_O Now that tells you a lot about my current lifestyle o_O BUT, I was in the mood to marathon loads and so, that's what I did! Let's crack on...
Aku no Kyoten [Japan - 2012] 8.5/10
I enjoyed this so much! Once again, it's definitely no where near the standard that Battle Royale is but ranks higher than Kamisama no Iu Toori, and the beginning is a little slow but my god I got a good laugh out of it (especially a certain teachers death xD) and it was fun to watch! Which is odd to say cos y'know kids are getting slaughtered xD The ending was very open ended and definitely implied a sequel but it's been three years.... I WANT MY SEQUEL NOW!! Cos my theory is that those two at the end are gunna be the next messed up ones and not the original killer << trying so hard not to give anything away xD I feel sorry for Sometani's story too... I love him as an actor, he should've had a more important role xD Also wish Nishii had had a larger role too! He was so close!!
Ao Haru Ride [Japan - 2014] 7/10
Ahh this was so cute and easy to watch! Personally it had a Kingyo Club atmosphere about it but that could've been because Yoshizaawa Ryo was in it being... well, himself! xD I did feel that the story went a little fast, it felt like the four students had only worked together for one day before the main female lead was like 'so this is what having real friends is like' I really felt like they'd spent months together and the producers hadn't signalled that out properly to the audience. I really felt for Chiba's character <3 frigging Second-Lead syndrome -_- I kinda didn't like how Mabuchi was like switching between being a decent friend and blocking everyone off every 5 seconds. OH! and that freaking classmate from Nakasaki story line! Was that reallly needed?! She bothered the shit outta me. But, like I said, it was cute and an easy watch late at night ^_^ I think it's persuaded me to check out the manga too!
Thermae Romae II [Japan - 2014] 6/10
I really enjoyed the first one but this one was just boring and I cannot stand Ueto Aya (we all know that) and while it was nice to see Abe Hiroshi's almost fully naked form for most of the film, I felt it was lacking. I loved the plot line with the Prince and his twin brother (love the actor too) but yeah, it was just less better than the first film and ugh Ueto -_- If you liked the first film, at least give this one a go.
Tokyo Tribe [Japan - 2014] 7/10
This film is definitely bizarre and different. Do NOT expect a linear story to unfold. It's got constant rapping which really took me off guard! and I thought I'd hate that but you can really get into it! TOKYO TRIBE NEVER EVER DIE! There's a crazy story line but has great fight scenes. Omg the way this film was shot, making it it looks like there's long continious shots, and the cinematography is amazing! Completely mental and very different but so enjoyable! It's always great to Sometani also <3 I was on a major Sometani kick as you can tell with this and Aku no Kyoten xD I was surprised to find Daito Shunsuke in this too!
Crows: EXPLODE [Japan - 2014] 5/10
I knew there was a reason I never went to the cinema to watch this, and I made the right decision. There's a great actors at the forfront of this but the plot/story is just disasterous, I don't even know what it was to be honest! And it's pretty boring to watch. Definitely ignore this one and keep thinking of Crows as a duology!
Me and 23 Slaves [Japan - 2014] 7/10
A lot of 7's in this review post! xD Okay, another 'First things first': I cannot stand AKBers. Past & Present. Don't care if they've left, they'll always be an AKBer in my mind, guh just don't get me started! And there cannot stand Akimoto Sayaka even though she was one of the more mature, with sense AKBers. Anyways! This film is, as you can probably tell, fits into that genre that seems to have no name that I love: It's a game, but with a little less blood and killing, where you play to become the master who controls the slaves. Basically, you lose a game you become the slave. I LOVE KANATA HONGO <3 So naturally I've wanted to watch this from the day it came out xD I loved the games and the competition but I wish we'd played more games before either MCs got into trouble and I wished we'd seen more games being played before the BIG finale games started. I enjoyed the ending but, even though it was kinda open ended, there won't be a sequel, just didn't give off that bribe. I think this needed more serious games and more blood and violence xD but that's me!! xD Still enjoyed it and will watch again ^_^ Yamada Yuki also made a surprise appearance ^^ SPOILER >> I freaking LOVED the incest twist!! xD But wish Hongo had won the game =[
Monsterz [Japan - 2014] 7/10
I enjoyed this one much more than the Korean version! This one seemed to have more story, made more sense and had two actors in that I love! Fujiwara and Yamada <3 More Yamada <3 I love how this version called them evolutions and, like I said, there was an actual plot and point to their fighting! The ending was good! One main thing I will say is 'what the fuck is she doing on the cover?!?! She's not even a main character and has all of 15minutes screentime!! WTF?!' Ugh! Another actress I don't like xD O a more decent and accurate poster:

They are the movies which I think I've watched in the past 7/8 days! o_O Still in the red on my laptop and still only have 29gb left on it, so can't get any more films for now =[ Think I need to marathon some KAT-TUN to get some space xDD
