Just a quck note here, to remind myself of a subject for later: I am increasingly looking at the importance of embodied spirituality and what is called 'marifa' in Sufism (marifet in modern Turkish). I want to share later why this is a relevant topic for me today, after the last few days of returning to this theme.
Yesterday I attended a very interesting Ashura ceremony, different from ones I have attended before. In Shia tradition, this is the day that Imam Hussein, grandson of the Prophet Muhammed was martyred. It is a significant point of dramatic public and ritual morning in the Shia calendar, which mourns quite a few individuals.
