the problem is that when we're in Portland, we're surrounded by like-minded people. I mean, 70-something% of Portland voted no. it's part of why I love Portland, but it's also something that can give us unrealistic expectations about things such as this. :(
what sucks is that the rights of me and my friends were just taken away. if I find a woman I love and decide to marry (very hypothetical, you know I don't want to marry ^_^ ), I won't have the same rights as everyone else.
basically, I agree with my friend (who happens to be a devout Muslim). denying the right of marriage to anyone in the United States is against the Constitution. some people may see voting yes as supporting their religion, but in the US, we are supposed to have separation of Church and State and the same rights for everyone.
and I really shouldn't rant anymore because if I do, I'll miss any chance of getting dinner. stupid college campus meal times.
but I love you. and we're going to fight this until everyone has the same rights as everyone else. this is only the beginning. *hugs*
