Ok.. I got a little upset recently when someone told me that they thought looking at another person naked was wrong. And they were speaking in the context of AN ART CLASS when an artist draws a model!
For me, as I'm drawing, looking at a naked model is the means to and end... to study and learn the architecture of the human body to effectively illustrate it. How can one accurately drape clothes on the body (in drawing) if they do not know the nature of what is beneath in various positions. Or how the muscle and flesh respond to certain positions? Nudity in that context has never inspired any sexual thoughts from me.
Blows me away.
There is nothing lustful about drawing a model in class....
TO ME that is like saying a pre-med students gets turned on by the naked corpse he/she is about to disect!
I'm NOT turned on and want to have sex when I look at the Statue of David... I'm too busy admiring what the artist created from a lifeless lump of stone, the angles, curves just the magnificence of creating something that looks so real from something that is not. Just the magnitude of it.
It is childish and immature to ogle classic art like that!
This person said that God gave us clothes.
This is written in the bible, I do agree.
BUT God gave man clothing AFTER man felt ashamed by it and tried to hide.
Clothing, nudity and modesty... I could probably go on with my opinions on it all....
But For the sake of this post I'm just talking about Nudity in relation to an artist, art and a classroom.
(p.s. I will not defend ALL nudity in "art". I've seen photos from a photographer that I consider pornographic not art)
