Valen raised an eyebrow as the old red lion left. He was impressed- the old one knew authority when he saw it, and had given him the respect he deserved. And for that, he felt appreciation towards the old lion, and his sense of liking grew. Perhaps the old one could tell him things that would make him wiser, and, if he was lucky, more powerful.
He licked a few of his wounds and saw Saliek doing the same out of the corner of his eye. The rest of the Dark Haveners seemed to be doing the same, many of them sighing deeply, others grumbling to themselves in annoyance. To see them all discouraged made his anger ripple. He dug his claws into a nearby rock and with his brute strength, smashed it to pieces, imagining it as the head of that burgundy lion whom had stolen his land from him. His tail lashed at the thought, and made his blood boil.
One day, your foolish actions will turn into your folly and my triumph. One day, you pitiful thing that calls yourself a lion, you will experience great despair. I swear it.
