Owen finished up some paperwork and straightened the house a bit. It was still a wreck from the insanity of the party the day before. Owen had pretty much decided that they would let Jack handle the parties for this insane group from now on. He looked at the clock. Fours since Lacey showed up at the Hub with Max and company, and him finding out about Time Seizures. As if he needed another thing to worry about. She went to sleep pretty much right after getting her home and in bed. He’d given her some Tylenol once they got home for the fever and headaches, and left her to rest.

He went upstairs and their room, to check on her. The Doctor said there was a good chance Lacey would sleep the rest of the day, but that didn’t stop him from looking in on her. She was still asleep; one hand tucked under the pillow the other laying across her side. He sat down on the bed next to her, resting his hand against her forehead, then placing a kiss on her forehead. She felt cooler, which meant the fever was coming down. He chuckled as she smiled faintly in her sleep. He brushed some hair away from her face and got up to head downstairs.

“Going somewhere?”

He stopped in the doorway at Lacey’s sleepy question, looking over at her. She had shifted slightly, looking at him with half asleep eyes. “You should be sleeping, love,” he said, softly, but moved back to the bed.

“Been sleeping, awake now.” She pushed herself up so she was sitting. She rubbed at her eyes, wincing slightly. “Ugh, stupid headache.”

“Well, that answers my question,” he said. “Could probably do with some more Tylenol, then.” Owen got the medicine from the bathroom and brought it out to her, sitting down beside her. “Other than the headache, feeling better?”

She nodded as she washed the pills down with the water from her nightstand. “Not so tired,” she said, putting the water back down, “and not feeling so weak.”

Owen eyed her, “Remember what your brother said.”

“I know, I know, forty eight hours bed rest.” She made a little face as she leaned on his shoulder.

“You’re the one who had three uncontrolled Time Seizures, in a row.” Owen pointed out, “Which the Doctor seemed to think was unusual and worrisome enough.”

She sighed. “That’s because it is. They’re a rare enough occurrence as it is. A Time seizure is the result of someone or something messing with a fixed point. Generally, it’s when someone lives that isn’t supposed to, or vice versa, and it effects ripple out.” She explained. “Most time, things are in flux, and even minor changes in a fixed point aren’t that big of a deal. Humans won’t notice, things move on and around the event. A Time Lord might notice it, might have a Time Seizure if the event changed is big enough. It’s normally looking at what should have been. This was different.”

“Because you were seeing what happened in that future?”

“Even that wasn’t unusual. It was having that many, so fast, right on top of each other.” She rolled her head a bit so she was looking at Owen. “It was implying that something hadn’t just changed, but something was ripping Time apart.” Or someone, she thought back to her eyes, her psychotic eyes in the vision she had before they could get her into the Tardis. Was she doing it? Was that the reason for the song? For the look the future Maggie gave her?

“End of the world type stuff then?”

“Try Universe.” She shuddered and she felt him put an arm around her, pulling her close.

“Try not to think about it right now,” he said, kissing the top of her head. “We can worry about Universe ending events when you’re not sick.” He chuckled again as she hummed and rolled so she could snuggle in more against him, one hand now resting against his chest. “Comfy?”

“Yes,” she said with a smile. “This is always comfy. How are you going to survive without my cooking for two days, I wonder?”

“Oi,” he said, giving her a playful shake, “I survived well enough without your cooking. I think I can go two days. I’ll complain and bitch about the fact that I’m eating out of a plastic container, but I’ll live. Besides, been a few since we’ve ordered in Pizza. Think you’re up to that?”

“Oh, Pizza. Actually, I’m starving, I haven’t had anything since breakfast.” She admitted. “we weren’t planning on coming back after that trip. We had one more planned.”

“Oh?” he asked, reaching over to grab his phone from the nightstand, ordering a couple of large pizzas from the local pizzeria, as well as the breadsticks that Lacey couldn’t get enough of and the dessert pizza that he and the kids loved.

“Maggie wanted to see Nirvana in concert,” she said. “And of course, once she said that, Max latched onto it too, and how could I resist?”

“No real way, that I’m seeing,” He said, putting the phone down. “I guess you’ll just have to make it up to them when you’re better.”

“Yeah,” she said, “Wanna come? The next time we go?”

He shrugged. “Maybe, I don’t know. I don’t think I’m quite cut out for that time traveling thing.”

“Oh, how do you know? You’ve taken one trip and that was to Mars.” She said. “Come on, you can’t have the full time traveling experience unless you go to the past too.”

“We’ll see,” he said, which was the closest she was going to get to an answer. He stroked her arm idly as they sat on the bed. She was quiet for a long time, so Owen was beginning to think she’d fallen asleep again.

“Do you want a vanilla or Banana cream cake?”

He looked down at her, almost expecting her to talking in her sleep, but she was looking right at him. “What?”

“Wedding cake. We can’t have chocolate, unless it’s after the baby’s born, or if that weird food aversion goes away,” She said, “so I was asking, Vanilla or Banana cream?”

He looked at her like she lost her mind, then laughed. “Love, you can have whatever cake you want. I am rubbish at planning anything.”

“I want chocolate, but I guess vanilla is the next best option,” she said, still pouting about the no chocolate.

He kissed her head, shaking his slightly. “Vanilla is fine. Isn’t that traditional?”

She looked at him. “Hey, you’re the earthling in this relationship. I’ve never had an Earth relationship before,” she said, smirking slightly. “I don’t even remember if we had a cake on Gallifrey.”

“Well, what are some Gallifreyan traditions?”

“Mostly ceremonial, formal robes, even the bride…we are not having a Gallifreyan wedding.” She added. “I got nothing from them but complexes. Their ceremonies are boring anyways.”

Owen smiled. “All right, all right. We’ll have a complete earth wedding.” He looked up when he heard the doorbell. “That would be the pizza.” When he came back from getting the pizzas, Lacey wasn’t in the bed. “Hon?”

“Bathroom! I’m allowed up for that!” She called out. She walked out a few minutes later. “You’ve been making me drink so much water today that it was inevitable really.” She stretched a bit, before rolling her eyes at the look he was giving her and getting back in bed. “I’m going to get bored, you know.”

“I’ll bring up your DS and some books once we’re done eating.” He said. He really wasn’t surprised she was griping. Hell, he would be too, in her shoes. “Just, listen to us this one time?”

“I am,” she pointed out. She reached out for the plate with the pizza. “What’s in the box?”

“Your breadsticks. I got you your own box so you wouldn’t pout about not getting the last one. Lord knows you’re going to be pouty enough the next four eight.” He held the box above her head when she stuck her tongue out at him. “Be nice, or I feed these to the kids downstairs.” She sat back slightly and sulked and he handed her the box.

The rest of the evening was quiet. They finished the pizza, and he went and grabbed her video games and books from the den. He sat with her a little more, letting her use him as a human pillow as she read Lord of the Rings, while he looked over some paperwork from the hospital.

An hour later and he was quietly slipping the book from the hands of his now sleeping fiancée, and adjusting her so she could get some more rest. He pulled the sheet and duvet up, giving her a kiss on the forehead before hitting the lamp on her bed, the room falling into darkness.
