Exchange Aftermath

Getting caught sucked. It wasn’t the first time it happened. And he had a feeling it wouldn’t be the last. But still. Interrogated and beat up was not the kind of night he thought he would have after he told his girl that he loved her.

It seemed like this particular experience would be ending soon enough. The bag over his head effectively cut off his sense of sight and left him to rely on his other sense. The fact that they blinded him prompted a mixed reaction from him. He didn’t like that he couldn’t see. But the fact htat they wanted to remain anonymous was a very good indication for his prospective future. Still he could not afford to let his guard down. Behind all the bravado, he knew that these people knew a lot about him. More than was safe for him, for the team and for Chloe. Fear was his spoken companion through this whole ordeal.

The car they were in started to slow down. A calloused hand gripped his neck and pushed him through the open door. He stumbled out of the car (or SUV as he realized then realized). The hand propelled him forward. He tensed up, trying to tune his senses to his surrounding. To prepare himself for whatever would be coming next. He clamped down on his fear and anxiety and focused. Oliver took his cue to start walking forward. He flinched as his bare feet met the cool water of a puddle on the ground.

His walk was interrupted when he collided briefly with another person. Once again the bag obscured his senses but he felt a tingle of familiarity. The moment passed by too soon. He could barely register the sensation before it was gone again.

Gentle arms guided him into another vehicle. It was an entirely different experience than his ride just a few minutes ago. He could smell the clean scent of the interior. The car itself was toasty warm. The warmth was already seeping into his bones. A voice called him Mr. Queen and asked if he was ok. Oliver could feel that bundle of fear dissolving. It looked like he escaped the clutches of a villain again.

The bag was ripped off his head unceremoniously. He blinked blearily as his eyes adjusted to the light. He whipped his head around looking for….. her. The security detail continued to drone in his ear. Oliver caught the words hospital and Hamilton. His mind was solely focused on the fact that she wasn’t there.

As he completed the scan of the vehcile, looking for her in the front or even trying to see if there was a second car. That freshly dissolved nugget of fear had mutated into a dagger in his heart. The vehicle was quickly pulling into the side entrance of the hospital. He peered outside of window, hoping to spot a familiar head of blonde hair. His heart sank down to his stomach when the curb was empty.

Anxiety filled his body.

Where was Chloe?
