Americans are terrified of being naked.

I'm back in my apartment now, where I'll be until next Friday.

I had a great trip back - all the train tickets were sold out, so I took a sleeper bus. Just arrived this morning after a wonderful, if rocky, night's sleep. I saw some beautiful mountains along side of a river on the way.

Yesterday I paid $7 for a half hour back massage, and they convinced me to get some hot cups put on my back for an extra $2.50. They've left huge purple circles all over my back, but all the soreness of the journey is gone. I love Eastern medicine.

It's nice to back in a familiar place. I know where the good food is, the massages, cafes, the egg man...and they all know me too. Ah, after traveling, it's good to come home - even if home is rather a transition in itself.

and the title? Just a thought I had when I had to take off my shirt yesterday in front of several Asian ladies for the hot cups. How often are Americans naked in front of other Americans, except in Filene's Basement's changing rooms?
