Was it a birth class or a method of torture?

I'd give you the in-depth play-by-play of my childbirth class, but you'd fall asleep in your chair.

In short, it started half an hour late, and then all us pregnant/uncomfortable ladies and our partners sat there for two. hours. straight. while the midwife running the class talked non-stop (and quite tangentially, I might add). She never asked our names. She never asked our due dates. We never got to say a word, except for the guy who eventually started bombarding her with questions just to keep the rest of us awake. I mean, she knows what she's talking about, but who DOES that? At a BIRTH class - especially a birth class at a BIRTH CENTER where the philosophy is all about patient involvement?

In short, it sucked. I'm not being dramatic.

Oh, and the class was supposed to end at 8, but then she pushed it back to 8:30. At that time she was JUST getting into the half-hour-long relaxation exercise - one thing I DID want to do - and we had to leave (I missed most of my office hours and had to get home to wrap them up).

I think I'm going to hire a doula and go ahead with that hypnobirthing plan, because this class is definitely NOT going to prepare me for an all-natural childbirth experience.

Oh well.
