Dell computers

I've a crow to pluck with Dell.  After finally getting my brand new non-USA made computer operational with outsourced tech support from probably Calcutta, the mouse broke after 3 days of normal usage.  Dude (named "Brian", although I highly doubt that's his real name)  told me they'd send another which they did 2 days later, and that I should "recycle" the defective one.  But as of today, they're *billing* me for it.

Oughtn't something like that be covered under the warranty?

I despise calling their tech support up.  I fight the urge to ask them if they see camels out the window.
