DARE WE HOPE?!?!

Bryan Fuller - my actual favorite person making television right now, ahead of Joss Whedon, Ronald D. Moore, and that Kring fellow - said this:

"I am exclusive to Daisies through the delivery of the 13th episode of our 13-episode order, which will be mid-January," says Fuller. "If Daisies isn't picked up by then, I will definitely be going back to play with my friends at Heroes."

Oh fuck. Oh fuck. It's not fair. I don't want Pushing Daisies to go anywhere - that show is an antidepressant in TV form, as have been all of Fuller's shows from Dead Like Me to Wonderfalls to - dare I say it - Heroes Season One. Remember when Claire was teh awesome and had an ambiguously gay best friend? Remember when Nate and Pete didn't seem to know from scene to scene whether to fistfight or fuck? Remember the joy of Claude and Charlie and Mystery Sock Mendez? Remember Peter's graduation party? Remember Matt and Janice's weird domestic tensions? (Yeah, I really kind of hated Janice, but not because she was boring or ineffective, but because she was so real to me, and I wanted her to appreciate Matt more, and cut it out with the domestic violence.) REMEMBER NATHAN FLYING IN HIS PAJAMAS AND LANDING AT THE FLY BY NIGHT DINER AND BURNING HIS WIDDLE FEETS AND HIRO SEEING HIM OUT THE WINDOW AND FALLING INSTANTLY IN LOVE???...

Could we have that again? But at the cost of no more Chuck, no more Ned,no more Olive Snook, no more Digby and Pigby, no more Emerson Cod and his pop-up books, no more endless parade of cute, über-gay guest stars? ARGH!!!

Still, it's nice to have a ray of sunshine on a week where Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander got sacked (not that either of them will be hurting for work, but still). Oh, please come back, Bryan. Please come back. As wonderful as it is - a beautiful scintillating stained-glass-and-mescaline gem - I don't think there's any way to get higher ratings for Pushing Daisies. It's too good for this world.
