warm feelings: ep 4.08 "Once Upon A Time..."

You know, it really is a shame that I wasn't all there for this episode. It is absolutely delightful in every single way (as long as you don't expect relationships to be the way you have been thinking they were all this time). There is more hilarious dialogue in this than the characters really have time to enunciate, which is why I lost so many of ( Read more... )

Well, I don't hate women for going after married men necessarily - I can't remember if you watch Glee, but Jayma May's character on there is in love with Will, who is married to Jessalyn Gilsig's character (ha). I ship them just fine because, well, Will's wife is a bitch, and Jayma is genuinely BETTER for him. I think that's the only way they can get away with such a storyline, even though it's a cliche to have the wife/husband/sig other be unlikeable. I think the fact that Sandra is likable, and we think she's BAMF, ruined the HRG/Lauren thing for me. Because we're ready to jump up and defend the honor of a character we've liked since season one, you know? For me it's like, oh no you didn't. Sandra will cut you. Get away from Noah, yo.

Honestly, she lost me as soon as she pulled the hotel key out of her pocket before the first commercial break. It was just too strong, and not...subtle enough for retcon, lol. This wasn't just "hey, you see some chemistry between them, this might be important later." This was "hey, this random chick in the past BOUGHT THEM A ROOM and kissed HRG." Maybe I couldn't suspend my disbelief that all this happened in less than an hour of television. If I had seen the slow burn development of their relationship, and had time to SEE their connection, instead of just being told it, then perhaps I would be more accommodating. Cause if HRG decided to have an affair with Angela, I suddenly wouldn't be so judgmental - because I've seen over a season of development with her, and can perhaps understand why HRG would fall in love with another woman then.

Still, gotta love the show. I harp sometimes, I harp because I CARE, but I try to be generally positive too. It upsets me to see that half the people who post recaps on ninth_wonders, heroes_tv, etc never have ANYTHING good to say, and I can't understand why they're even watching. Get out of our fandom, haters =(

I do watch Glee! and I am sad that it's not on tonight. Is it because of stupid baseball? No, I want SHOW TUNES.

And no, I don't think we were supposed to like Lauren. No WAY. But we also weren't supposed to hate her; because otherwise, there'd be no reason why HRG would like her in the first place. The storyline was a mistake, IMHO, but I did still like her character despite that.

Some characters just rub me the right way; others have the opposite effect. Really the only characters, even minor ones, on this show I've ever not accepted were West and Caitlin; and I didn't dislike either of them as "people" (I still think both Nick D'Agosto and Katie Carr are attractive and capable), I just didn't want to see them there for the express purpose of being hookups to distract the world from the Hayden and Milo Are Totally Doing It factor.

I don't know! I can't really explain it. I wish she hadn't been there, but at least she was kind of cool. But still - TEAM SANDRA 4 LIFE.

Glee > The World Series :(

Yeah, honestly, I think the only characters I have ever truly disliked were West and Luke. I think it's the whiny teenage boy thing, lol. I deal with enough of those on a daily basis ^_^ I didn't mind Caitlin as a person, but I felt bad that she was just used as a throwaway love interest. I think she had potential to be a badass, but wasn't given the care that Emma has. I'm so happy that they're developing Emma as HER OWN character, and less than half of her scenes even involve Peter.

I've grown discontent with Mohinder, and I like some characters better than others naturally, but yeah...other than West and Luke, there's really never been a character that I rolled by eyes every time they came on. And even Luke had Sylar to soften the blow, lol.

Well, It's unlikely that Luke will come back, since he now has to be the whiny teenage kid on Cougar Town. Shame; I liked him WAY more than West. I fucking hated that guy, hotness or no (and in some ways the hotness made it worse) - I think the writer's hearts were in the right place, but they did it ALL wrong; West was creepy, controlling, stalkery, and unpleasantly confrontational - not things very high on my list of desirable characteristics (except apparently I'm in a minority about that, if the success of Twilight is any indication).
