State of the Sharks, other babble

May 15, 2009 00:21

So State of the Sharks happened tonight. I was gonna go...then I wasn't...then I ended up going, but work got a little hectic and I barely missed the train I was going to take down there. I caught the next one, but that meant that I got to HP right before the event started. There was quite the turnout. I ended up sitting in the upper level. Randy Hahn was the moderator. It started with opening statements from Jamison, Wilson and McLellan, then the players (Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski and Boyle) came out and the Q&A began. It wasn't quite as weird/dumb as some of the questions last year, at least. Did I learn anything? Not really. And yet it was nice hearing them all talk. After the players left, Mike Ricci joined the panel, which was cool. I stayed a little over two hours before catching the 9:30 train back up the peninsula. Didn't feel like sitting the whole thing out and then taking the 10:30 train. You understand. I'd be getting home around...NOW. Bleh.

Elsewhere, Carolina beat Boston and Detroit beat Anaheim...really wish I'd remembered to record one of those games, but the highlights will be good enough for me. :) Before the game I had resigned myself to the fact that I'll be rooting for Chicago in the WCF. Oh, and after I got home I found out that the Canucks re-signed Bernier. Good for them, and good for him! :D
