I read the futon critic's summaries for new shows for the fall... just gonna make a list of shows that I'm gonna give the pilot a try.... and because I REALLY don't wanna go read my textbook I'll give my reasons why I wanna try the pilot
ABC
Big Shots: This is the story of four friends at the top of their game...until the women in their lives enter the room. Lines between boardroom and bedroom blur when these competitive but dysfunctional CEOs take refuge in their friendship, discussing business, confiding secrets, seeking advice and supporting each other through life's surprising twists and turns.
reason: Two words: Michael Vartan. ;)
Dirty Sexy Money: Some people say money is the root of all evil. They may be right. Nick George's whole life has been lived in the shadow of the Darling family, but as an adult he's leading the perfect life as an idealistic lawyer, until his father's suspicious death. The absurdly wealthy Darlings of New York have asked him to take over his father's job as their personal lawyer, but the money that will allow him the freedom to be an altruistic do-gooder is only part of the picture. That same money pulls him into the dubious doings of the Darling clan. Power, privilege and family money are a volatile cocktail.
reason: Because Samaire Armstrong is in it and I totally loved her character on The OC... Haven't really really made my mind up if i'm gonna like her or not though
Private Practice: From Shonda Rhimes, the Golden Globe-winning creator of "Grey's Anatomy," comes a story about new beginnings and old friends. Addison Forbes Montgomery is a renowned neonatal surgeon, respected by her friends and colleagues at Seattle Grace Hospital. Deciding she can no longer healthily co-exist with her ex-husband, McDreamy, and her ex-lover, McSteamy, Addison heads to Los Angeles for sunnier weather and happier possibilities. Reunited with her once-married, newly divorced medical school friends, Naomi and Sam, Addison joins their chic private practice. Featuring an all-star cast including Kate Walsh, Amy Brenneman, Tim Daly and Taye Diggs, "Private Practice" tells the story of a woman unafraid of change and willing to begin a new life.
reason: Addison? DUH
Women's Murder Club: Based on James Patterson's bestselling novels, The Women's Murder Club, four working women in San Francisco - a detective, a district attorney, a medical examiner and a reporter - use their expertise and unique talents to solve murder cases. Each woman is successful in her own field, but because of their unique friendship, they realize that pooling their resources during investigations leads to undiscovered clues and answers in both work and their personal lives.
Reason: 4 women and murder almost make me think Desperate Housewives, except it isn't because they've all got really kickass jobs... heh
CW: Not that I'll be getting CW at school but anyways...
Gossip Girl:drama based on the popular book series, about the world of privileged teenagers attending elite private schools in new york city as told through the eyes of an anonymous blogger
Reason: Hello? the OC anyone? Not that I loved the OC after the first season but if anyone remembers Ali, the "16 years old" blonde chick that hitted on House and it ended up only because she had spores? Ya? well she's on the show haha. When I looked at the cast I didn't even know it was her but her name was really familiar and one click on imdb and voila
Fox: why does Fox have these long ass "summaries"? O.o
The Return of Jezebel JamesCan two estranged sisters, polar opposites, really raise a baby together? SARAH THOMKINS (Parker Posey, "For Your Consideration") is a bright, optimistic, determined woman who seems to have it all a great job as a children's book editor, an eager-to-please assistant, BUDDY, who helps keep her life together, and a no-strings-attached relationship with successful businessman MARCUS SONTI (Scott Cohen, "Kissing Jessica Stein"). Nevertheless, as her father, RONALD (Ron McLarty, "Law & Order," "Champs," "Spenser: For Hire"), is constantly pointing out, something is missing from Sarah's life. Her hard work may garner accolades, but when she goes home at night, she is very much alone. All too aware that she isn't getting any younger, Sarah decides to have a baby on her own and gets the shock of her life when the doctor tells her she can't get pregnant. Having no concept of the term "can't," she wills herself to execute a plan. With nowhere else to turn, Sarah sets up a meeting with her quirky younger sister, COCO (Lauren Ambrose, "Six Feet Under"), and asks her to carry her baby. They haven't seen each other in a while, and at first Coco refuses to go along with such a huge favor. But something happens when Sarah mentions that she's turned Coco's imaginary childhood friend Jezebel James into a children's book. Even though she doesn't say so out loud, Coco is clearly touched, and, realizing that her current living situation sharing a couch with her friend's sick cat isn't working out, Coco decides this just might be worth a try. THE RETURN OF JEZEBEL JAMES comes from executive producer Amy Sherman-Palladino ("Gilmore Girls"). The series is produced by Regency Television.
Reason: Well it's by Amy Palladino and well that's good enough for me. and dammit I only caught the 2nd half hour of the Gilmore Girls series finale :'(
NBC:
Heroes: Origins: NBC "bulks up" with 30 combined episodes of "Heroes" and "Heroes: Origins," an innovative new spin-off that each week will introduce a new character -- one of whom will be chosen by viewers through the "Heroes" website on NBC.com to become a cast regular the following season.
Reason: Not quite sure when this is coming on yet since it sounds it it may be in the summer or during hiatus times during the year. It definitely sounds intriguing if nothing else
Hmmmm the CBS pilots sounds ... well they just weren't interesting or maybe the CBS lot have crappy summary writers.
